The Perfect Ending: Zanzibar After Your Safari
After days of early morning game drives and dusty bush roads, there's nothing better than sinking your toes into Zanzibar's powder-white sand. A Zanzibar beach extension is the perfect complement to a Tanzania safari — and it's just a short flight away.
Why Add Zanzibar?
After the excitement of safari, your body craves relaxation. Zanzibar offers pristine beaches, warm turquoise waters, fascinating culture, and world-class seafood. It's the ideal decompression after an action-packed wildlife adventure.
Best Beaches
Nungwi (North): Best for swimming at all tides, vibrant atmosphere, stunning sunsets. Popular with couples and younger travellers.
Kendwa: Quieter than Nungwi, beautiful beach, good snorkeling. No tidal issues.
Paje (East): Kitesurfing capital, long white beach, more budget-friendly. Tidal variations mean swimming is tide-dependent.
Matemwe (Northeast): Secluded luxury, excellent reef snorkeling, authentic village atmosphere.
Things to Do
Stone Town UNESCO heritage tour, spice farm visit, snorkeling at Mnemba Atoll, sunset dhow cruise, swimming with dolphins, Jozani Forest (red colobus monkeys), local cooking class, and simply relaxing on the beach.
Getting There
Daily flights from Arusha/Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar (1-1.5 hours). We arrange this as part of your safari package. Alternatively, fly from Serengeti airstrip directly to Zanzibar.
How Many Nights?
We recommend 3-4 nights minimum. This gives you time to truly relax, explore Stone Town, and enjoy water activities without feeling rushed.
Recommended Combo
Our most popular combination: 5-6 days safari (Serengeti + Ngorongoro) followed by 3-4 nights Zanzibar beach. Total 8-10 days for the complete Tanzania experience.
